Pastor Moe Smith

About Pastor Moe

Pastor Moe was born in Bakersfield and raised at Bakersfield’s Olive Knolls Church of the Nazarene. He is an ordained elder in the church of the Nazarene and has served in ministry for the past 14 years in various associate roles, from youth to young adults.

After attending Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Moe returned to Bakersfield. There he began dating his wife, Tara, of almost 13 years. They have two children, Paisley (10) and Brixton (7). Moe pastored in Bakersfield for 8 years, followed by another 5.5 years at San Luis Obispo Church of the Nazarene (SLO Naz).  He enjoys all things outdoors—surfing, hiking, camping, and climbing. A day exploring the beach with the family is the best kind of day.

Moe’s motto in life and in ministry is “victoriously united.” He believes we’re truly at our best when we’re doing life together authentically for the sake of the kingdom.

His favorite passage of scripture is Hebrews 12:1-3: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
